In 2016, the Alliance for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (AEI) recognized TippyTea Blends as the Best Entrepreneurship of the Year. To obtain this recognition, the company underwent a rigorous qualification carried out by a strategic committee, made up by the Centro de Estudios para la Integración Económica (Centre for Economic Integration Studies) , and a team of multilateral institutions among which were the Development Bank of Latin America - CAF, and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Thanks to this recognition, Tippytea Blends will now represent Ecuador before the United Nations (UN) in the so-called "Entrepreneurship Week: Start-Ups For SDG's", where it brings together entrepreneurs from around the world that are an example of how to align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Guillermo Jarrín, Commercial Engineer in Marketing and Tea Sommelier, is an Ecuadorian entrepreneur who created the company Tippytea Blends, which makes and serves world-class tea blends, mostly using socially responsible products. Tippytea Blends works with communities in the Cotacachi area, which make up approximately 250 families, and around 100 women are in charge of the cultivation of certified organic herbal and fruit plants.
"Thanks to these recognitions we can further strengthen the alliances that we have locally and we hope to generate new alliances at an international level," says Guillermo Jarrín.
